George Westly Jackson was born January 2nd, 1978 in Fairbanks, Alaska, and has lived in Houston, TX since the age of one. Rev. Jackson began to hear the voice and feel the presence of the Lord with him at a young age. At the age of nineteen, he acknowledged the call of God over his life and became a third‑generational preacher of the gospel.
After graduating from Evan E. Worthing Sr. High School in 1997, George added to his life experience in the United States Navy. During his time in the navy, George began to advance in the development of his preaching ability and in his boldness to preach Jesus Christ. It was at this time, Pastor Milton Chambers of the United MBC located in San Diego, CA, invited Reverend Jackson to be the youth minister of a strong and growing congregation. While a member of the United MBC, Reverend Jackson preached every third Sunday, taught the youth bible study class every Wednesday evening, as well as gained the experience of organizing and planning Christian events and Christian educational courses.
After completing his service time in the United States Navy and returning home to Houston, TX, George met and married after a short courtship Chisa Gale. They have been married eighteen years and have been blessed with four children. Shortly after marrying, George was called to pastor the True Believers MBC. As pastor, he grew in prayer, preaching, and teaching the word of God. After eight years as pastor of True Believers MBC, Pastor Jackson separated from this congregation.
After separating from True Believers MBC, Pastor Jackson began his formal Christian education by attending the College of Biblical Studies, the WHW Greek and Hebrew conference, National Missionary Baptist Fellowship of Churches, and a list of various other venues to increase his knowledge of the Word of God.
While engaged with other areas of Christian ministries, God would prepare Pastor Jackson to become the next spiritual leader of Ship of Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Ship of Zion MBC received Reverend George W. Jackson as Pastor on March 24th, 2019.
Pastor Jackson has been led by the Holy Spirit in restructuring the Mission Ministry and Sunday Church School Ministry, a developing Media Ministry, created our church logo, implementing our church motto, and instrumental in guiding the church to unite in mid-day prayer.
Pastor Jackson and the Ship of Zion MBC look forward in faith to serve in this present age as the Holy Spirit unfolds the future to do greater works in the name of Jesus.
